Our journey began
Porthcawl Railway Club History
The Porthcawl Railway Club was established in 2011. Premises are rented at Newton
Institute, Porthcawl where we hold our Wednesday bi-weekly meetings.
The origins of the Club stem from the Porthcawl Railway Society which was set up at
the request of shop customers of MIB Models who opened a shop in Newton Village
in 2003. Membership grew to over 20 people and PRC was active in exhibiting at several local exhibitions and eventually helped to organise the Annual Trinity Church
(John Street, Porthcawl) model show after the passing of member Reverend Tefion Humphries .
The PRC has organised several ‘swap meets’, small and large model shows in the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl also
regular visits to the Waterfront Museum in Swansea to operate it's own miniature railway.
We lost a few members due to Covid and other maladies, who are sadly missed.
We believe that the Club provides a means of helping people’s mental health by providing an avenue of help
and sharing, the common factor being an interest in railways and railway modelling.
Please contact us and become a member of the Porthcawl Railway Club to help in the
regeneration!
